What is a Zena Algae Peel?
The Zena Algae Peel (aka. liquid microneedling) utilizes the cutting-edge technology and unique properties of bioactive compounds naturally produced by specific marine algae (seaweed crystals) that penetrate and dissolve the epidermal layer of the skin with tiny spicules that penetrate the skin to:

The Zena Algae Peel is rich in vitamin A, E and C in addition to Zinc and Copper. Once applied to the skin, the seaweed crystals will be gently massaged into the skin for 5-10 mins. Resurfacing your skin with the Zena Algae Peel will result in more youthful and healthy-looking skin. It will deeply stimulate collagen and enhance your skin cells.
The effects of the seaweed crystals remain inside your epidermal layer for 24-48 hours before dissolving. During that time, your skin will experience a mild redness. The first few days after treatment, you will experience some dryness in the treated area. Subsequently, it will peel for 5-7 days. After the healing process, new, rejuvenated skin will be revealed!

How many sessions are needed?
Depends on your skin care concerns.
- Typically for clients with good skin (aka not much wrinkles, acne, melasma/hyperpigmentation) one session would be good and another session could be done in like 3-6 months or whenever the client feels that they want a refresh.
- For clients that have problematic/severe skin care concerns, we would need to do a treatment plan of aggressive treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart (approx. 2-3 sessions depending on how severe the skin care concern is).
Client can choose to do a superficial peel or an intensive peel.

What are the benefits?

Is the treatment painful?
- During the treatment, the tiny spicules will begin to penetrate the skin to stimulate collagen and improve your skin cells. The client will feel sensations of prickling, heat increase and reddening. This is very normal and part of the treatment process. We ensure your comfort during the whole process.
- Immediately post treatment, the area may feel quite sensitive to touch, however this will subside in 30-48 hours.
- It is important to note over the first few days post treatment, you may also experience some redness & dryness. Dry is GOOD during healing.
When will I see results?
- In most cases, on day 7, your skin will be fully healed and recovered. Some individuals may see results and stop peeling up to day 10 but no longer. After the healing process, new and rejuvenated skin will be visible.
How many sessions will I need?
- The number of sessions required for each person will vary due to their skin type and treatment concern. For the best results, it is recommended to complete 3-4 treatments, however in some cases, less sessions may be sufficient. Follow up treatment will need to be completed 6 weeks after the initial session. Number of sessions will be discussed depending on your skin care concerns.
Is it safe to perform on all skin types?
- Yes. Every skin tone can be treated. It is important to note that whilst all all skin tones can be worked on, people with darker skin tones are more prone to hyper-pigmentation. SPF daily is a must!
